Accessibility Help

Beta v1.1

This page explains how to use www.lettermatching.com with a keyboard, with zoom, or with a screen reader. It's written in plain language on purpose. If something here doesn't work the way it says, please tell us — contact details are at the bottom.

How to Play

Look at the letter in the bubble in the top-left corner of the home page. Pop the falling bubbles that show the same letter. If you pick a bubble with a different letter, it jiggles but does not pop. If a bubble you want is hidden behind one with a different letter, press and hold the one in front and drag it out of the way; when you let go, it keeps falling. Every 30 seconds the letter changes, and a big green bubble with the new letter appears in the middle of the screen for a moment so you know. Pop 5 matching bubbles in a row without tapping a wrong letter, and a golden star bursts onto the screen with a cheer like “Great job!” or “Let’s go!” Then the count starts again. This beta uses capital letters A–Z only. There is no score and no way to lose.

Keyboard Navigation on This Site

Every page, including the home page, can be used without a mouse or touchscreen.

Bubble Settings

The settings button (top-right corner of the home page, a gear symbol) opens a panel with three options: larger bubbles (which also makes the letters bigger), slower movement, and a bigger tap area. They can be combined, and your choices are remembered on this device for next time. See the Accessibility Statement for more on why these exist.

Browser Zoom and Text Size

This site does not block browser zoom. You can zoom in using your browser or operating system at any time:

Screen Readers

If you already use a screen reader, www.lettermatching.com's content and legal pages are built with standard headings and landmarks and should be navigable with the same commands you already use. We have not yet completed manual testing with any of these — see the Accessibility Statement for the honest current status.

We won't install anything or change your settings for you, but here's where to find the screen reader that may already be on your device, or one you can add:

On the home page, each bubble is labeled with its letter (for example, “Letter B bubble”), and each new target letter is announced (for example, “Match the letter B”). As explained in the Accessibility Statement, the letter-matching activity itself is a real-time visual and pointing activity and cannot currently be played by screen reader alone.
